Four Khaya species of this tree grow in West Africa. The species are Khaya grandiflora (African mahogany), Khaya ivorensis (Kahya mahogany), Khaya anthotheca (Krala), and Khaya senegalensis (Dry zone mahogany). The wood is used as a substitute for South American mahogany to build expensive furniture, interior woodwork, and boats. [Kanerva, p. 832]
