This wood is now rare. Its appearance and uses are similar to the East Indian rosewood. It is used to make jewelry, furniture, knife handles, and musical instruments. Contact dermatitis has occurred in cabinet makers, knife grinders, butchers, and violinists (exposed to wood in chin rests; [Kanerva, p. 1331, 830]
