Oral LD50 (rat) = 380 mg/kg; [EPA - TSCATS] Acetic acid and sodium acetate demonstrate no evidence of toxicity to fertility or teratogenicity; [OECD SIDS: Ethyltriacetoxysilane - 2005] No human exposure from use in silicone sealants due to the nature of the curing process; Rapidly hydrolyzed by moisture/water forming acetic acid and the corresponding trisilanol (toxicity expected primarily from acetic acid); Severely irritating and corrosive to skin; [OECD SIDS: Ethyltriacetoxysilane - 2005] Hydrolyzed by water; Causes burns; Inhalation may cause corrosive injuries to upper respiratory tract and lungs; [Alfa Aesar MSDS] See "Acetic acid."
