Radioactive Compounds
Sources/Uses
Used as a diagnostic aid in radionuclide cisternography; [ChemIDplus: DailyMed] "A radionuclide cisternogram is a medical imaging study which involves injecting a radionuclide by lumbar puncture (spinal tap) into a patient's cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) to determine if there is abnormal CSF flow within the brain and spinal canal termed hydrocephalus. . . . Indium has 39 known isotopes, ranging in mass between 97 and 135. Only one of them is stable and one has half-life exceeding [10 raised to the 14th power] years; the most stable other indium isotope is indium-111, which has half-life of approximately 2.8 days."
