Emergency treatment: "Plants- stimulants"; [HSDB] Cicutoxin from the water hemlock (Cicuta maculata) causes seizures in poisoning cases. [Olson, p. 383] The Cicuta species closely resemble edible plants in the carrot or parsley family. The toxin is concentrated in the roots. A small piece of the root may be fatal. The toxin causes central cholinergic stimulation. [Ford, p. 916] Oral LD50 (cat) = 7 mg/kg; [RTECS]
