Comments
"Tumors have been detected in experimental animals but may not be relevant to humans." [ICSC] "DINP is not a pure substance, but a complex mixture containing mainly C9-branched isomers, with mean formula C26H42O4." No evidence of irritation or other adverse effects in animals exposed to saturated vapor (0.067 mg/L); No pathohistological changes noted in 344 rats fed 2000 mg/kg/day for 7 days; Depression, labored breathing, and weight loss were observed in 30 rats fed 10,000 mg/kg; All rats recovered, and there were no major necropsy findings. Rats fed 500 mg/kg/day for 3 months have liver changes; In a study of rats fed up to 1000 mg/kg/day, the conclusion was that NINP "is not teratogenic or a selective developmental toxicant." Oral LD50 (rat) >10 g/kg; Like dioctyl phthalate, it may cause CNS depression and mild liver toxicity after ingestion of large amounts; [HSDB] A very mild skin and eye irritant, based on animal studies; [CHEMINFO] May cause irritation; [MSDSonline] See "PHTHALATE ESTERS."
