Evidence of growth retardation, teratogenesis, and hepatotoxicity in animal studies; Much less potent as a mutagen than aflatoxin B1 or M1; Aflatoxin B1, Palmotoxin Bo, and Palmotoxin Go were all toxic to developing chick embryos, causing decreased body and organ weights, but Palmotoxin Bo was less potent than the other two substances; In rats treated for 15 days with up to 6.4 mg/kg/day, Palmotoxin Bo caused weight loss and liver injury and Palmotoxin Go did not.
