IARC concluded that the evidence was sufficient to classify the manufacturing and repairing of leather boots and shoes as carcinogenic in humans. Workers had a higher incidence of sinonasal cavity adenocarcinomas. Processing chemicals and leather dust are the probable causal agents. [Harber, p. 612]
