Description
Producing aluminum by electrolytic reduction; [Burgess, p. 13-20] Aluminum production with exposure to pitch volatiles caused increased lung and bladder cancer in workers. [IARC 1987] Other exposures are carbon dioxide and asbestos. [IARC 2012] A cohort study of 2264 primary aluminum workers employed after 1941 and followed to 2000 found increased lung and CNS cancer but not bladder cancer.
