Forging

Process Name
Forging
Description
Sulfur dioxide exposure may occur during combustion of fuel oil containing 0.5 to 3% sulfur. Hot parts burn off oil-based die lubricant to release oil mist, sooty particulate, polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons, and low levels of trace metals such as vanadium. Asbestos was used in the past to reduce heat loss from the work pieces. [Burgess, p. 93-105]
