Category
Other Insecticides
Description
Colorless crystals; [HSDB]
Sources/Uses
"An Acaricide used against many organophosphate and carbamate resistant pests. It acts as an uncoupling agent and monoamine oxidase inhibitor." [ChemIDplus] Formerly used on fruits, vegetables, and cotton; [HSDB]
Comments
Several workers developed hematuria secondary to hemorrhagic cystitis after exposure to chlordimeform. The syndrome resolved within 2 to 8 weeks following termination of the exposure. A case of methemoglobinemia induced by chlordimeform was reported. [EPA Pesticides, p. 77-78] Short-term exposure may have effects on the nervous system causing impaired function; Prolonged or repeated exposure may cause urinary tract inflammation; Can be absorbed through skin; [ICSC]
Restricted
Registration voluntarily withdrawn in 1989.
