Cardiac effects, renal toxicity, and pulmonary toxicity have been reported in patients taking this drug; Renal toxicity observed in experimental animals; [HSDB] Occupational asthma confirmed by broncho-provocation testing in a pharmaceutical worker; [Malo] No developmental toxicity observed in rats dosed up to 400 mg/kg/day during gestation; The preponderance of evidence suggests normal pregnancy outcomes in humans from therapeutic use throughout pregnancy; Does not appear to have the same effects on male fertility as sulfasalazine (abnormal semen parameters and infertility); [REPROTOX] May cause photosensitivity, cholestatic jaundice, diarrhea, dermatitis, agranulocytosis, muscle weakness, acute tubular necrosis, changes in structure or function of endocrine pancreas, focal lung fibrosis, and eosinophilia following oral administration in humans; [RTECS] A skin and strong eye irritant; [Alfa Aesar MSDS]
