Sources/Uses
Carbamate derivative used as an insecticide, acaricide, and nematocide. [ChemIDplus] A restricted use pesticide for certified applicators only; Widely used on cotton, peanut, and soybean crops to control mites, nematodes, and aphids; [EXTOXNET] Used on a variety of crops: citrus, cotton, dry beans, peanuts, sorghum, sugar beets, sweet potatoes, pecans, potatoes, and sugarcane. Comments
The symptoms of cholinergic poisoning in humans (accidental and occupational) usually resolves within 6 hours. In animal experiments, LD50 = 0.3 to 1 mg/kg; Inhalation exposure of 6.7 to 7.6 mg/m3 for 30 minutes causes death in rats; [ACGIH] Absorbed through the skin; [Olson, p. 682] Extremely toxic by oral and dermal routes; Occupational poisonings have occurred after failure to follow instructions for safe loading and applying; Formulated only as granules which are applied directly to the soil; [EXTOXNET] See "CARBAMATE INSECTICIDES."
