Sources/Uses
Used to control ants, cockroaches, crickets, flies, mosquitoes, and crop insects; [EXTOXNET]
Comments
Classified as "highly toxic" with an LD50 of approximately 100 mg/kg in rats and mice, propoxur has a field half-life of 14 to 50 days. [EXTOXNET] "The animal and human studies demonstrated consistent NOAELs in the range of 3 mg/m3 to 18.7 mg/m3, thus a TLV-TWA of 0.5 mg/m3 is recommended to be sufficiently protective." [ACGIH] See "CARBAMATE INSECTICIDES."
BEI
Acetylcholinesterase activity in red blood cells = 70% of individual's baseline; Butylcholinesterase activity in serum or plasma = 60% of individual's baseline; Sample at end of shift; [TLVs and BEIs]
