The ferrocyanides are used in the production of blue pigments with the potassium salt used in Europe and the sodium salt used in the United States; Sodium and calcium salts used for uncaking of NaCl; Potassium salts used in refining of wine and photographic industry; [Ullmann]

Comments

Ferrocyanide complexes are stable and practically nontoxic because of the strong bonding between iron and cyanide. Cyanide ions may be formed slowly when the chemical is irradiated with UV light. [Ullmann] See "Nickel" and linked occupational diseases.
