Sources/Uses
A photosynthesis inhibitor, diuron is used for general weed control and to kill emerging weeds in sugarcane, citrus, pineapple, cotton, and asparagus crops. [ACGIH]
Comments
Urea-derived herbicides have low toxicity in animal feeding studies; May induce methemoglobinemia; [HSDB] Systemic toxicity unlikely unless large amounts ingested; [EPA Pesticides, p. 122] Skin and mucous membrane irritation have been reported with the use of diuron. [ACGIH]
