Used to make hydroquinone and resorcinol, as an initiator for cold SBR polymerization, and as a curing agent for polyester resins; [HSDB]

A strong oxidizing agent; Fire risk if in contact with organic substances; [Hawley] A skin, eye, nose, and throat irritant; In an acute inhalation study, 50% of animals died when exposed to 5.59 mg/l; Caused skin necrosis in a 4 day skin irritation test in rabbits; [HSDB]
