Not manufactured commercially, but a by-product of sulfur hexafluoride synthesis; May be released when sulfur hexafluoride decomposes in electrical power system accidents exposing substation operators, substation equipment maintenance workers, and others; [ACGIH]

Comments

A by-product of sulfur hexafluoride synthesis, it has been shown to be a severe pulmonary irritant in animal studies. A potent cause of pulmonary edema that has no warning properties (no respiratory or skin irritation and no lacrimation; [ACGIH] A skin, eye, and respiratory tract irritant; [CAMEO]
