The protox inhibitor herbicides (Fomesafen, Oxadiazon, Lactofen, Sulfentrazone, Carfentrazone-ethyl, Oxyfluorofen and Bifenox) can disrupt porphyrin metabolism; "It has been speculated that a transient form of porphyria variegate may occur following a massive exposure or long-term exposure to lower doses."
