May cause skin burns (from SF4 releasing hydrofluoric acid on exposure to moisture); [NIOSH] After an industrial accident, six exposed workers developed cough, dyspnea, and chest tightness. Symptoms resolved within one to four weeks. [ACGIH] Possible frostbite from contact with liquid; [NIOSH] A corrosive substance that can cause pulmonary edema; Evaporating liquid can cause frostbite; May cause fluorosis; [ICSC] See "FLUORIDES."
