Category
Dithiocarbamates (Rubber)
Description
Dark brown powder; Insoluble in cold water; [R.T. Vanderbilt MSDS]
Sources/Uses
Used as an elastomer accelerator in industrial production; [R.T. Vanderbilt MSDS]
Comments
Acute copper poisoning after ingestion can cause liver injury, methemoglobinemia, and hemolytic anemia. Acute renal failure may result, secondary to massive hemoglobinuria. [Goldfrank, p. 1259] May cause mild eye irritation; Harmful by inhalation (dust may cause irregular breathing and lung congestion); Not a skin sensitizer in guinea pigs; [R.T. Vanderbilt MSDS] Several of the dialkyldithiocarbamates are known skin sensitizers; See "Carba mix." See "Copper."
