Exposures to chromium metal, Cr(III), and Cr(VI) compounds may occur. When Cr(VI) is the main concern with mixed exposures, use TLV, DSEN, RSEN, and A1 cancer designations. "For processes where exposure measurements show no detectable exposure to Cr(VI), the use of the TLV for Cr(III) is recommended." [ACGIH] A pneumoconiosis associated with chromite exposure was found in a study of South African miners. [Hendrick, p. 175] See "Chromium."
