Quaternium-15 is a preservative used in cosmetics and in many industrial applications including latex paints, polishes and waxes, metalworking fluids, adhesives, paper, inks, etc. [Marks, 121-2] Dowicil 75 is one of the biocides commonly used in metalworking fluids. [Occupational Exposure to Metalworking Fluids. DHHS (NIOSH) Publication No. 98-102, 1998, Table 4-1] Used as a formaldehyde releaser in cleaning agents, paints, soaps, metalworking fluids, polishes, paper products, textile finishes, joint cements, and photocopier toner; [Kanerva, p. 405]
Comments
Quaternium-15 is a preservative used in cosmetics. It is a relatively common cause of allergic contact dermatitis in consumers of cosmetics. [Marks, p.121-122] Allergic contact dermatitis reported in hairdressers, a machine maintenance engineer in a chicken processing plant, and a photocopying worker; [Kanerva, p. 1832] A formaldehyde releaser used in cosmetics; It can cause allergic contact dermatitis; "Rinse off products in general will have a low risk of causing allergic contact dermatitis." [Kanerva, p. 398-404]
